Privacy Policy for EyeDrop

EyeDrop is designed with privacy in mind. Your images and data stay on your device.
Information We Collect
EyeDrop does not collect, transmit, or store personal data on external servers.
The app stores the following settings locally on your Mac using UserDefaults:
- App preferences (model mode, description length, compression/resize settings)
- File renaming preferences
- Trial launch date (trial builds only)
These settings remain on your device and are not shared.
Image Processing
All image processing happens on your device using local machine learning models (MLX)
- Images are processed in memory and not transmitted to external servers
- Images may be modified (resized, compressed, or renamed) only if you enable these features and only on the files you select
Image files are accessed only when you:
- Drag and drop images into the app
- Select images through the file picker
- Drop images on the EyeDrop dock icon
File Access
EyeDrop requires file access to:
- Read images you select for processing
- Write modified files (only if you enable compression, resizing, or renaming)
- Access files in your Downloads folder when enabled
File access is requested only when you select or process files. The app does not access files without your action.
Clipboard Access
If enabled, EyeDrop can copy generated descriptions to your clipboard. This happens only on your device.
External Connections
- The only external connection is opening https://eyedrop.ai in your browser when the trial expires (trial builds only)
- No data is sent to external servers
- No analytics or tracking
- No crash reporting or telemetry
Data Storage
- All processing is done locally
- Settings are stored locally using macOS UserDefaults
- Generated descriptions are shown in the app interface and can be copied to your clipboard
- Images are stored on your device at locations you control
Privacy by Design
- No internet connection required for image processing
- No account creation required
- No personal information collected
- All processing occurs on your device
Third-Party Services
EyeDrop uses:
- MLX (Apple's on-device ML framework) for local processing
- Apple frameworks and APIs (CoreImage, SwiftUI, etc.)
No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used within the EyeDrop app.
The EyeDrop website (eyedrop.ai) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand general website traffic.
- Analytics are collected without cookies or local storage
- No personal information is collected or shared
- Data is aggregated and used only to understand website usage
- This analytics system applies only to the website, not the EyeDrop app
Your Rights
Since all data remains on your device:
- You control which images are processed
- You can delete images at any time
- You can reset app preferences by deleting the app's UserDefaults
- You maintain full control over your data
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated to reflect app changes. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date.
